Gowan is a very small rural locality in the Bathurst Regional Council area, mainly grazing and farming land with a population of a few dozen.
Gowan lies about 34 km north-west of Bathurst at around 820 m elevation, in hilly country.
There are no attractions of its own. Nearest attractions are in Bathurst, Sofala and Hill End.
A taxi over 250 km runs on the meter with no set price, and few will come out to Gowan for a pre-dawn start. Public transport means a coach or drive to the nearest station, a train to Central and a change to the airport line with your luggage — and nothing gets you there for an early flight. Driving yourself means about 3 hr 32 min each way plus airport parking for every day you are away. See the full comparison.
